OUR AIM
The band was founded for the purpose of fostering and facilitating the
musical aspirations of members and thus advance their musical knowledge
and ability. The end result is the confidence to play in public; this
is achieved by providing musical entertainment in Beverley and the
neighbouring area at special events promoted by local organisations.
The band rehearse at the St. John Ambulance hall on the corner of
Wlibert / Morton Lane, Beverley on a Monday at 8.00pm and on a Wednesday
at 7.45pm.
The band is noted for playing a wide range of music including modern
popular music, arrangements of scores from the shows and film music and
not forgetting a wide selection of the more traditional transcripts
from well known orchestral and brass band composers.
The band is a subscription based band and members of the band consist
of individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and ages. We are always
happy to welcome new members, whether experienced players or complete
beginners provided they can read music. If the idea of being involved
in a friendly band with a busy and challenging programme appeals to
you, just come along to the band room on rehearsal nights and if you do
not own your own instrument the band keeps a stock of instruments that
can be used by members.
The band also have a junior band that meet on a Monday evening prior
to the main band at a venue nearby and extend a welcome to any person
under 16 that is able to read music to join, for full details contact
the band secretary. |
